Infrastructure at KVK    

1. Administrative building
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has very well developed administrative building having classrooms, amphie theatre, soil & water analysis laboratory, Bio-control lab, Computer Lab & an agriculture technology information center (ATIC) The classrooms are well furnished & are supported by the audiovisual aids.

 

2. ATIC (Agriculture technology information center)
It is nothing but one stop shop of agriculture where the farmer gets the technology & the inputs together. Through this center we sale:

a. Biofertilizers Azotobacter, Acetobacter, Rhizobium, phosphate solublising bacteria, Decomposing culture etc.
b. Biopesticides such as HaNPVc. Biofungicides such as Trichoderma, paceliomyces, Verticillium,   Meterrhizium, Beauvaria
d. Other agents of biological control of pests such as trichocards, lady bird  beetels
e. Seed of latest varieties of cereals, pulses & oilseeds
f. Sugarcane sets
g. Grafts of improved varieties
h. Pheromone traps
i. Chemical traps
j. Mastitis controlling kits
k. Vermicompost & earthworms

l. Neem seed powder

3. Farmer's hostel
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has a farmer's hostel that can accommodate more than 125 farmers at a time. The hostel rooms are well furnished too. The facilities are also available to outside farmers who visit us during study tours on nominal charges. The hostel has solar water heating systems & solar streetlights. It is also equipped with a generator.

4. Farm
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra possesses 50 acres of land that is fully under cultivation of crops relevant to the area. The main purpose of the farm is to demonstrate the latest agricultural practices. It also acts as a tool to do applied research on agricultural Technologies & undertake trials before their transfer to farmers. After a careful planning and analysis soil types, the farm was divided in to three major blocks of Horticulture, Agronomy and Nursery unit. This was followed by planting mother plants of horticulture crops such as Mango, Sapota, Guava, Aonla, custard apple, pomegranate, figs etc that are mainly grown in the district. The plantation was completed in 1996. Similarly, agronomical crops grown are sugarcane and wheat. Now the entire farm is operated on drip irrigation system for which the water storage tank of 24,00,000 lits capacity has been constructed. The farm has wide collection of mother plants of latest released varieties of horticulture plants
. Rain water harvesting has been done over 62 acres of farm land the tank of 86,00,000 lits Capacity is made to collect the rain water thus harvested.

 

5. Green House
Krishi Vigyan Kendra has constructed two green houses over 0.05ha area each of naturally ventilated type to undertake floriculture( gerbera cultivation) in one & hardening of nursery plants in the second. Recently the Krishi Vigyan Kendra has constructed two shade houses.

6. Soil & water testing laboratory


This well equipped laboratory analyses soil & water samples at reasonable rates of RS 125/- & Rs 100/- resp. per sample. The laboratory is supported with computer software for more precise interpretation of results. Every soil sample is analysed for eight parameters such as pH, Electric Conductivity, Organic carbon, available nitrogen, available phosphorus, & available Potassium, Exchangeable sodium, Calcium & magnesium content. We also have facility of micronutrient testing , leaf & petiole testing in the lab. The lab is full-fledged with latest imported equipments.

7. Meteorological unit & Disease forecasting station

The Unit has computerized equipments to record daily minimum & maximum temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, evaporation rate, leaf wetness, solar radiation, wind velocity etc on an hourly basis. This data is used to interpret the disease forecast or fore warning in grapes, potato, tomato, citrus & wheat, that is made available to farmers on our website & the local radio station. The weather data is also provided on demand free of cost for working out the water requirements of the plants.

8. Farmer's Library
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has wide collection of books on all the fields of agriculture. All these books are available to farmers for reference free of cost.

9. Plant health clinic
In collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra this Krishi Vigyan Kendra has established a plant health clinic that provides farm consultancy services of all types free of cost to farmers. Farmers may visit us with their queries or write to us for the guidance. Diagnostic visits are also arranged to farmer's fields in case the problem needs further in field investigations.

10. Cyber Extension center
Through it's website & a portal titled " aaqua" , KVK provides technical information to farmers on internet.  aaqua mainly provides query redress service for farmers which is being used by farmers across 12 states of INDIA. This center also provides information on Rainfall prediction at village level to farmers . This information sent on mobiles of farmers in the form of SMS. KVK has also developed " Interactive Voice Response System"  to give information on weather and market rates etc in recorded format on telephone. This center provides online services & detailed information on market rates for all agricultural commodities through out the state of Maharashtra to farmers.  The farmers can also access various websites on agriculture on paying nominal charges.

11. Farm implements museum
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has several farm implements tractor drawn as well as bullock drawn in its museum Farmers can get detail information about them at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The subsoiler is also provided to farmers on hire basis for deep ploughing the saline soils as one of the treatment of reclamation once in three years.

12. Vermicompost & NADEP Unit
 


This demonstrates the conversion of farm waste into enriched compost. Two different species of worms are reared so that the culture can be made available to farmers. The annual capacity of the unit is 18 tons.

13. Bio control agent production unit

KVK has established bio-control agents' production center which produces Bio pesticides such as HaNPV, Neem powder, Tricho cards , Bio fungicides such as Paceliomyces, Trichoderma , Verticillium, Beauvaria, various Biofertilizers like AZO, PSB, Rhizo , Acetobacter decomposing Culture etc.
